You Can’t Hack Trust

You Can't Hack Trust image

AI is amazing. There is no question about it. It can take huge amounts of data and sort, summarize, and analyze it faster than we ever could or ever imagined. It can even help you research podcasts that might be a good fit for your message.

But here’s where things start to break down…

AI is not the end-all, be-all.

Everyone wants the shortcut.

The “AI list builder.”

The “100 podcasts in one click” promise.

I get it.

Everyone wants all the answers to their frustrations regarding visibility and credibility and audience size immediately.

And sure, these tools can help you get started. But here’s what they can’t do. They can’t build trust.

Publicists and media strategists have spent years earning the confidence of hosts, producers, and editors. We’ve shown up, delivered reliable guests, filled last-minute spots, and helped interviews shine. That’s what creates real trust. It’s not an app, a spreadsheet, or a clever prompt.

And that trust?

That’s why our emails get opened.

Just the other day someone sent me a pitch that AI had written for them. It looked neat and tidy, but once I read it, I knew it was completely unusable. It didn’t know the show. It didn’t know the author’s uniqueness. It couldn’t tie the message back to the show. It didn’t connect the topic to the audience. It didn’t sound like a human who had actually listened.

Maybe one day AI will be able to do that.

Today is not that day.

AI can outline. It can make suggestions, but it can’t replace human intuition, and by that I mean the subtle understanding of tone, timing, and connection that makes a pitch land.

If you’ve ever wondered why your beautifully written pitch didn’t get a replay, it might not be your words. It might be that the producer doesn’t know you.

AI can make your process more efficient, but it can’t make you more trusted. That part still happens one authentic conversation at a time. There is no hack. No magic pill. So before you send another round of “Dear podcast host” emails, pause and ask yourself this:

Am I building connections or just chasing attention?

Because the best opportunities still come from people who know, like, and trust you. And no one, human or AI, has found a shortcut for that yet.

To your success!

Joanne

P.S. For all the tech in the world, what we’re really after is connection!

P.P.S. And if you need help with those warm introductions, well, that’s what I’m here for.
