I have created something call a Publicity Cheat Sheet, which is exactly as it sounds. It’s a short cut as to what you need to do to get the attention and coverage for business, book or service.
There are three parts to publicity:
- Landing it.
- What to do once you land it.
- Delivering.
So let’s take a look at some of the important elements to landing coverage, beginning with this:
Hone Your Message.
This is easier said than done. Test it to see how you do. Next time someone asks you, “What do you do?” or “What is your book about?”, give yourself :30 seconds to answer them in a tight, concise way. The objective is to interest them so much within that :30 seconds that their eyebrows go up and they say, “Tell me more.” That’s the goal.
And that’s the challenge. I invite you to take it on and give this a try. You will learn a great deal about how concise you are…or aren’t….yet.
The key is practice, practice, practice. It’s how we get good at anything.
More to come…
To your success!
